Riverside Health Fitness Center in Illinois has achieved Medical Fitness Facility certification by the Medical Fitness Association (MFA), the country’s leading organization dedicated solely to medically integrated wellness and fitness facilities.
The medical fitness facility certification ensures that Riverside Health Fitness Center will focus on credible prevention and rehabilitation programs that will improve the health and wellness of individuals in Bourbonnais and surrounding communities. Plus, the facility will feature the professional expertise and programming to safely and effectively assist people, regardless of their current health status, to develop, initiate and maintain an active lifestyle that minimizes the risk of illness and disease and promotes health and wellness.
“The Medical Fitness Association certification speaks not only to the services offered at Riverside Health Fitness Center but to Riverside Healthcare as a whole,” said Phil Kambic, Riverside Healthcare President and CEO. “Having a medically integrated health and fitness facility is a key component to Riverside’s goal of keeping well within reach. Congratulations to the Riverside Health Fitness Center team on this well-deserved recognition!”
This certification is a significant step forward in the health of the entire community and to individuals taking responsibility for their personal health. Only 52 fitness centers in the U.S. and two other countries have achieved MFA Certification.

- Disease management and prevention programs
- Health-risk reduction and therapeutic-lifestyle programs
- Individualized health screening
- Testing and outcome tracking
- Quality management, with a focus on measurable results
- A focus on improving community health
“As the incidence of chronic disease continues to rise, the need for medical fitness facilities to offer a high standard of programming for the communities they serve is more important than ever,” said David Flench, FACHE, FMFA, President and CEO of the Medical Fitness Association. “Studies have shown that when people maintain an active lifestyle, especially in a safe environment, they reduce the risk of illness down the road.
