The new Dexter Wellness Center (DWC) opened Saturday, June 1 – providing an important new option for enhancing the fitness and health of the community. “Adults and children alike will benefit from the state-of-the-art center, which offers a wide range of services and recreational activities,” says Angela Sargeant, center director.
“Membership begins with a thorough fitness assessment that measures muscular strength, cardio respiratory endurance, flexibility and other factors. Based on the results, a fitness specialist will work with members to develop personalized exercise plans designed to help them accomplish their goals. Members also receive a complete orientation to the center,” Sargeant says.
The DWC will feature exceptional facilities, including:
- Spacious workout areas and exercise studios
- An indoor walking/running track
- Ellipticals, treadmills, bikes and other cardiovascular machines, complete with personal TVs
- Modern circuit and free-weight training equipment
- A lap swimming pool and warm water therapy pool
- A basketball court
- Full-service locker rooms with showers, saunas and other amenities
A comprehensive range of programing will be offered, such as:
- Personal training
- Group exercise classes
- Aquatics classes
- Yoga and Pilates
- Massage therapy
- Private swim lessons
The center will also provide special fitness programs to help individuals lose weight or manage orthopedic and cardiac conditions. Other services will include health education classes, massage therapy and childcare.
DWC will be staffed by degreed and certified personal trainers, fitness instructors and other team members dedicated to providing excellent customer service.
“Like our three other centers, the Dexter Wellness Center takes an integrated approach to health and wellness, and provides a welcoming environment that offers a comprehensive fitness experience for people of all ages and fitness levels.” says Jeff Hardcastle, chairman of the Chelsea-Area Wellness Foundation. The center is part of the foundation’s Five Healthy Towns initiative – an innovative project focused on creating fit, healthy communities in Dexter, Chelsea, Stockbridge, Manchester and Grass Lake.
A variety of membership options are available for individuals, couples, families and seniors.
