The Crosby Wellness Center at the Center for Health & Wellbeing Achieves Medical Fitness Facility Certification
First in Central Florida
Winter Park, FL – November 11, 2021: The Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center at the Center for Health & Wellbeing in Winter Park has achieved Medical Fitness Facility certification by the Medical Fitness Association (MFA), the country’s leading organization dedicated solely to medically integrated wellness and fitness facilities.
The medical fitness facility certification ensures that Crosby Wellness Center will focus on credible prevention and rehabilitation programs that will improve the health and wellness of individuals in Winter Park and surrounding communities. Plus, the facility will feature professional expertise and programming to safely and effectively assist people, regardless of their current health status, to develop, initiate and maintain an active lifestyle that minimizes the risk of illness and disease and promotes health and wellness.
“Achieving the Medical Fitness Facility Certification makes official what we have always done and what we will continue to do at the Crosby Wellness Center – provide the highest levels of service and support to our members on their individual fitness journeys,” says Matt Noe, Director of the Crosby Wellness Center. “We are proud to be recognized as a Certified MFA Facility and to join the small group of others who have received this recognition and are also committed to excellence in wellness programming.”
This certification is a significant step forward in the health of the entire community and to individuals taking responsibility for their personal health. Crosby Wellness Center is the first certified Medical Fitness Facility in Central Florida. As of the end of 2020, there were only 46 fitness centers across the U.S. and two other countries that had achieved MFA Certification.
A number of key factors distinguish certified medical fitness centers, including:
- Active and regular medical oversight
- Certified and licensed staff
- Written policies and procedures concerning user safety and emergency response
- Disease management and prevention programs
- Health-risk reduction and therapeutic-lifestyle programs
- Individualized health screening
- Testing and outcome tracking
- Quality management, with a focus on measurable results
- A focus on improving community health
“As the incidence of chronic disease continues to rise, the need for medical fitness facilities to offer a high standard of programming for the communities they serve is more important than ever,” said David Flench, FACHE, FMFA, President and CEO of the Medical Fitness Association. “Studies have shown that when people maintain an active lifestyle, especially in a safe environment, they reduce the risk of illness down the road. The Crosby Wellness Center has taken an important step in providing this extraordinary level of care.”
